Witt/Kieffer is partnering with Blessing Health System in Quincy, Illinois in their search for a Medical Director, Emergency Department.  We invite your nominations and recommendations of potential candidates for this opportunity. 

Blessing Hospital is a 327-bed Level II trauma center with $350 million in net patient revenue. Located approximately two hours north of St. Louis and two hours south of the Quad Cities, Blessing Hospital is the largest and most sophisticated medical center in a 100-mile radius of Quincy and serves residents of western Illinois, northeastern Missouri and southeastern Iowa. Blessing’s Emergency Department accounts for nearly sixty two (62) percent of hospital admissions.  With a medical staff of more than 240 physicians and a team of more than 2,000 employees, Blessing Hospital has a strong financial position with an operating margin that typically ranges from five to eight percent.  Blessing Hospital anchors Blessing Health System, which consists of two hospitals, a physician group, a four-year nursing education program and a Foundation. 

The Medical Director will serve as the lead physician executive for emergency services and work closely with a group of approximately 20 clinical providers.  Known to be a group of highly engaged providers with excellent clinical credentials, they seek a leader willing to provide strategic and operational leadership, while keeping the patient and patient experience top of mind.  She/he will oversee all clinical operations within the Emergency Department and will need to develop a strong working relationship with nursing and operational leadership within Blessing Hospital and across the Health System.  In guiding and supporting the transformation of care delivery, they will work to advance a culture of excellence in emergency medicine, show a dedication to the delivery of the highest quality patient care and consistency in clinical care standards, driven by patient satisfaction, employee engagement and provider satisfaction. 

This position requires an intimate knowledge of emergency medicine, and the ability to understand what data is critical to improve care delivery.  The successful candidate must have the ability to foster teamwork and to work well with multiple partners and stakeholders including nursing, ancillary services, the trauma team and hospital administration.  Creating a dynamic and engaging culture will lead to a highly engaged workforce providing excellent clinical outcomes.  The Medical Director will be an individual who has a passion for providing outstanding patient care, with a strong desire to improve the systems and processes of a successful emergency department.  The candidate should have the leadership skills to engage providers, nurses and hospital leadership in a way that holds everyone accountable for their part in Emergency Medicine.
